The Bioinformatics Education Summit is an online working meeting to develop guides, papers and documents for promoting and improving Education and Training in Bioinformatics worldwide.The participation is free and open to all people working in the area of Bioinformatics teaching and education or who have a clear interest in contributing to it.

The first iteration of the summit took place in 2019 in Cape Town, virtually in 2020 and 2021. It included trainers from institutions such as EMBL-EBI, GOBLET, ELIXIR, etc, having the necessity to share knowledge and experiences in tasks related to planification, development and evaluation of bioinformatics capacities. The Bioinformatics Education Summit 2021 was done virtually and organized by CABANA, GOBLET, ELIXIR, H3ABioNet, APBioNET and ISCB.

This year, the virtual event is jointly organized by CABANA, GOBLET, ELIXIR, H3ABioNet, APBioNET and ISCB. It is hosted by APBioNET on the 9th-11th May, 2022. This year in particular we are welcoming a wider body of academics, researchers, representatives and stakeholders from all over the world, thus, all working days are being divided in three Time Zones:

Time Zone 1 - KUL/SG = 17:30-22:00 MYT = UTC+8

Time Zone 2 - NY/TORONTO = 08:00-12:30 EDT = UTC-4

There are many topics to be discussed during our working meetings, they are divided as follows:

Day1, May 9th, 2022 - Stream 1 :Trainer guidance and resources/portal , Stream 2 : Competencies and related docs/guidelines

Day 2, May 10th, 2022 - Stream 1 : Training in LMICS , Stream 2 : ISCB endorsement

Day 3, May 11th, 2022 - Stream 1 : Going virtual, Stream 2 : Train the Trainer
