The positive reception of Finnish education in Southeast Asia
Finnish education is well-received in Southeast Asia, notably in the biggest country in the region, Indonesia. Thanks to this situation, Ratih’s 2 books about the Finnish education system are positively reviewed, mostly by teachers in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei Darussalam. The presentation questions: Is this phenomenon highlighted what the post-colonial view that everything from the Western hemisphere is good? Is learning from the “West” sustainable for local education? or is this part of global education?

Education for Emergencies (E4E)
May 12th and 13th 2022. Online event.
The aim of the event is to build networks with local and global partners to develop a teaching track for teacher education focusing on sustainable and global education goals with a specific focus on education during times of emergency (for example pandemic, climate crisis, war, racism, and pedagogical leadership during emergencies). The field of sustainability in higher education is one attempt to respond to the “emergencies” facing humanity, and there is a sense that our times call for deep and profound civilizational changes (de Sousa Santos, 2016). Instead of relying on certain ways of knowing and understanding for example the SDG4 goals, dialogue is paramount to educating future teachers and teacher educators on various knowledge and perspectives of understanding the world. This event aims for joint co-development of teaching in teacher education with our global networks.
The event is organised in collaboration with Global Innovation Network for Teaching and Learning (GINTL) and Education Discussion Company (EdDisCO).
