Information
IFMSA Poland is an organization of students from Medical Faculties of all Medical Universities in Poland. It is the world's largest student organization, which, through national organizations, includes students from 107 countries. In total, there are 1.7 million young medics worldwide within IFMSA. Due to the scope of its activities, the entire IFMSA structure is divided into Permanent Programs: Summer Internships, Scientific Exchange, Medical Education, Public Health, Reproductive Health and AIDS, and Human Rights and Peace.
The Association strives to:
Help students acquire practical skills and medical theoretical knowledge in various countries around the world.
Bring students closer to the latest medical developments by enabling them to participate in all IFMSA projects and programs, as well as by organizing various seminars, lectures and workshops in Polish scientific centers.
To acquaint Polish students with the possibilities of studying and doing internships and placements abroad.
Provide a unique opportunity to meet medical students from other Polish and foreign scientific centers.
What We Do: Our Mission and Actions
Our work is organized into six core standing committees, each focusing on a key area of medicine and global health:
SCOME (Medical Education)
We strive to improve the quality of medical education. We organize: Practical workshops (e.g., suturing, ultrasound, EKG interpretation) that complement the standard curriculum. Soft skills trainings in communication, teamwork, and public speaking. Initiatives aimed at modernizing and enhancing the educational system for future students.
SCOPH (Public Health)
We build a healthier society through prevention and education. Our projects include: Nationwide health campaigns like "Health Under Control" (Zdrowie pod Kontrolą), offering free basic health check-ups. Educational programs in schools and kindergartens on topics like healthy eating and first aid. Awareness campaigns on crucial issues like vaccination, mental health, and combating health misinformation.
SCORP (Human Rights & Peace)
We advocate for human rights, peace, and social equality. Our activities focus on: Raising awareness about global health challenges, refugee crises, and humanitarian issues. Educating our community on topics like human rights, tolerance, and the social determinants of health. Supporting vulnerable groups through local initiatives and advocacy.
SCORA (Sexual & Reproductive Health)
We break taboos and promote evidence-based education on sexual health. We work on: Fighting stigma around HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Educating about reproductive health, contraception, and healthy relationships. Campaigning against gender-based violence and for equality.
SCOPE (Professional Exchange) & SCORE (Research Exchange)
We provide invaluable international opportunities for professional and academic growth:
SCOPE: We organize 4-week clinical clerkships abroad, allowing students to experience different healthcare systems and cultures.
SCORE: We facilitate international research exchanges, enabling students to conduct scientific projects under the guidance of experienced tutors at foreign universities.
In summary, as IFMSA-Poland, Oddział Lublin, we are more than just a student club. We are a pro-active community of pro-active dedicated to:
- Empowering ourselves through continuous learning and skill development.
- Serving our local community in Lublin through health education and prevention.
- Engaging globally by participating in international exchanges and advocating for global health equity.
- Shaping the future of medicine by improving education and promoting a holistic, human-rights-based approach to healthcare.
We are the medical students of today, working for a healthier tomorrow.
