Iftar Dinner 2026
Iftar Dinner Brings the Medical University of Lublin Community Together
Students and staff of the Medical University of Lublin gathered on March 18, 2026, for a special Iftar Dinner organized by the English Division Student Government (EDSG) at UMLub. Held during the holy month of Ramadan, the event provided an opportunity for members of the university community to come together and break their fast at sunset while sharing an evening of reflection, cultural exchange, and community.
The gathering was open to all students and staff and attracted a large number of participants from diverse academic programs and cultural backgrounds. The event reflected the international character of the university, bringing together individuals from many countries and creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Among the distinguished guests were Karol Rawicz - Pruszyński, Vice Dean, who shared warm wishes and encouraging words that uplifted the spirits of the students. Prof. Tomasz Blicharski, Head of the Clinic of Rehabilitation, Mr. Michał Jałocha, Vice Chancellor of UMLub, and numerous employees from the Rector’s Office were also in attendance.
The venue was meticulously prepared for the occasion, with decorations in a combination of olive green and white, creating an elegant and inviting atmosphere. The setting allowed guests to gather comfortably and enjoy the evening in a relaxed and friendly environment.
One of the highlights of the Iftar Dinner was the wide variety of food available. Alongside the meals arranged for the event, many students contributed by bringing homemade dishes representing different cultures and culinary traditions. This shared effort added a personal and meaningful element to the evening and reflected the diversity within the university community. Students from over 20 different nationalities attended the event, and the variety of dishes allowed attendees to experience flavors from different parts of the world while celebrating the tradition of sharing meals together during Ramadan.
Throughout the evening, students had the opportunity to meet new people, reconnect with friends, and strengthen connections within the university community. The event created a space for meaningful interactions and helped foster a sense of belonging among attendees.
As the event took place during the holy month of Ramadan, attendees were able to perform their prayers after breaking their fast. This allowed those observing the fast to comfortably take part in both the spiritual and social aspects of the gathering. For many students celebrating this month away from their families, the event provided a sense of comfort, allowing them to bond and share the evening with their academic community in their second home in Lublin.
Events such as the Iftar Dinner highlight the importance of inclusivity and cultural understanding within the academic environment. By hosting this gathering, EDSG UMLub created a space where students and staff from different backgrounds could come together, share traditions, and celebrate the diversity that forms an important part of life at the Medical University of Lublin.
