Better Sleep. Better Focus. Better Health: A Program to Improve Sleep Quality of High School Students

• This assignment was for my health promotion program planning class during the fall 2023 semester. This class taught me how public health intervention plans were made, and all of the work that is put into them. The assignment involved creating an entire intervention plan from scratch for a public health issue. I worked with a partner on this project, and we did ours on sleep quality and quantity among high school students in the U.S. The hardest part about this project was the level of detail it needed. It was a very large project, and every part needed specific details. I think one thing that really helped to overcome this challenge was that me and my partner had very good communication. We assigned different parts to do individually, but we went over all of them together, so we could ask each other questions that we had or comment on parts we needed to update. Although this project was long and difficult, the time and effort put into it paid off, as we received a perfect score on it. This project tested and strengthened my time management, which will be useful in my future career in the medical field.

• This assignment was for my technical spanish for health management professionals class during the fall 2023 semester. This class was to build knowledge on how the healthcare industry works. One important aspect that I learned is that there are many different parts that fit together like a puzzle. I also learned about the healthcare systems in other countries. This specific assignment was a semester-long project in which we chose an LAC country and conducted a literature review about all aspects of its healthcare system. I chose Cuba as my country because I have traveled there in the past and wanted to learn more about it. The biggest challenge I had during this project was finding the information. There were many websites that I found that had good information, however, for a literature review, it is required to have scientific articles. I had a lot of trouble finding specific information I needed, but in the end, I found what I needed to. This definitely tested my patience, but there were many great outcomes of this paper. Not only am I more knowledgeable in how to locate scientific articles, this is the second literature review I have done, and I feel more confident in my abilities to conduct them. I have also learned so much about healthcare systems and how they compare country-to-country. I learned how to analyze the systems and how to use that information to create recommendations for future changes, which will assist me in future careers in the field of medicine and healthcare.
