About Ed Lewis
Ed is a retired educator and criminal lawyer. One day, while out running, he had a "widow maker" heart attack. He decided he had some things he wanted to say about life to his grandchildren before passing on. Ed retired.
But oh! he wondered, how to give life advice without being preachy, dull, and insufferable--a nearly impossible task. Pondering this dilemma, he decided upon a strategy--to hide his insights in fiction so they wouldn't suspect his purpose! Using Arthurian literature as camouflage, he hid his ideas in conversations with Sir Launcelot and under rocks in Merlin's Cave. Finding the subterfuge amusing, he decided to rewrite the books for a general audience to reach other adolescents and young adults beside his grandkids.
Writing has taken Ed (in his mind, at least) into new worlds. The first is the Dark Age/Medieval world of King Arthur. In his series of books, Stars in the Future Skies, his grandkids were taken (kidnapped by Merlin) to that world. Their experiences there were challenging and almost always frightening!
Another writing project unconnected with Merlin and his friends has been working with his sister, Dorothy Lewis-Griffith, on Sounds of Christmas. This combined Ed's photography and interest in history with Dorothy's album of Christmas carols. The book incorporates QR codes to take the reader/listener from the pages of the book to Dorothy's carols on YouTube. Stories and history of the carols are also introduced for those who want to know about the origins and effects of the carols.
