Jessica Reyes (@reyesjessica6) is a Spanish teacher and currently teaching at the elementary school level for Middletown Township Public Schools. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from Rutgers University, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. Having over 13 years of experience teaching from PK-12 at both public and private schools, she is passionate about language acquisition and social justice. Her passion for social justice has led her to have discussions and a workshop on implicit bias and cultural competence. She has collaborated in the revision and update of the World Language Elementary curriculum in two districts. She is proud to provide a diverse experience for students and teachers and looking forward to #EdcampWL.
Sybil Sanchez-Gonzalez (@Mrs_SGonzalez) is Mrs. Gonza or “La Profe”, as some of her students call her. She has worked in Randolph High School since November of 2012 as a Spanish Teacher. She holds NJ teacher certificates to teach Spanish and English as a Second Language, having 18 years of experience teaching from PK-12 at public schools. Her passion for teaching her language and culture has led her to teach Spanish for Native/Heritage Speakers and Advanced Placement Spanish Literature and Culture course. She has collaborated in the writing, revision and implementation of the World Language Curriculum in the school districts she has taught. As she continues to broaden her skills and knowledge, she is expecting her master's degree in Master en Lengua y Cultura Españolas from Universidad de Salamanca, Spain.
She was a 2015 Recipient of the Teacher Study Abroad Scholarship in Spain through the National Spanish Exam and AATSP. Currently she serves as the President of the AATSP-NJ, American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese in New Jersey.
Outside of school, Sybil is the Bilingual Community Organizer for WUCC (Wharton United Community Church) dedicated to providing a range of educational and community support. Sybil loves collaborating and is so excited to help with such passionate educators as she is driven by one of her favorite quotes: Where There Is A Will, There Is A Way!
Claudia Del Río is a certified teacher in Spanish, Elementary and Special Education.She has a Bachelor’s Degree from New Jersey City University in Elementary and Special Education. She also hold a Master’s Degree in Urban Education "World languages Specialization" in Spanish from the same university. She has a wide range of teaching experience, most notably at the New Jersey City University, where She teaches elementary Spanish courses. Claudia currently work as a World Language Teacher at Horace Mann Elementary School, where She teaches Elementary and Middle School Spanish courses. She is also the current President of The National Spanish Honor Society at NJCU (Sigma Delta Pi).
Sara Reis (@MsReisWLTeacher) is in her fourth year teaching Spanish at Manalapan High School. She is also an ESL teacher on iTalki where she teaches English to adult students from over twenty-five countries. She earned her B.A. in K-12 Education and Spanish with an endorsement in ESL from Monmouth University where she graduated in 2016. Sara has been attending #EdcampWL since the first year it was established in New Jersey, and is thrilled to help coordinate EdCamp World Language 2019!
Kristine Keefe(@kkeefe_hassan) is Spanish teacher in Edison since 2001, teaching the Advanced Placement Language & Culture class the last six years. She studied Spanish & Linguistics at New York University and Curriculum & Instruction at Kean University. Kristine is on the FLENJ (Foreign Language Educators of NJ) Board of Directors and was selected as the FLENJ 2019 Teacher of the Year. She is passionate about teaching for proficiency and integrating technology. Kristine is a Google for Education Certified Trainer and has given workshops in her district, for FLENJ, GWATFL and will be presenting at NECTFL 2020. She also blogs as La profe alta. Kristine is so excited to help organize EdCampWL with such passionate educators, at her school, John P. Stevens High School.
Ching-Lien Chang (Lien) was a Mandarin teacher at Whitehouse Preparatory School for kids aged 2.5 to 5 years old. She once taught elementary school students from K to 4th grade and now is a middle school and high school Mandarin teacher in Highland Park School District. She earned her B.A in National Taiwan University, and M.A.T at Rutgers University. Lien is a passionate Chinese teacher who is always looking for ways to motivate her students. Lien joined Edcamp 2015, and believes that EdCampWL is a great opportunity for every language teacher to join and be inspired through the discussions.
Sophia Chen (@SophiaChen55) is a high school Mandarin teacher in Point Pleasant Beach. She studied Chinese for Education at National Normal Taiwan University & Curriculum Design/Instructional Technology at University of Missouri. She is passionate about teaching language acquisition for Chinese, and integrating technology to enhance learning. Sophia enjoyed the experiences of EdCampWL 2016/2017/2018 and loves the energy from world language teachers. Sophia looks forward to meeting and collaborating with other world language educators! Ashley Warren (@AshleyWarrenWWP) is a teacher in the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District. Ashley attended The College of New Jersey, where she earned her B.A. in Spanish and Secondary Education and her M.Ed in ESL & Bilingual Studies. She recently received her Ed.D from Rutgers University, where her doctoral studies focused on teacher education. In West Windsor-Plainsboro, Ashley has taught everything from 4th and 5th grade Spanish to Advanced Placement Spanish Literature & Culture. She is currently serving as a Kindergarten teacher in WW-P’s new dual language immersion (DLI) program. Beyond WW-P, Ashley has taught ESL as an adjunct instructor for Middlesex County College and conducted research through the Fulbright Hayes Group Project Abroad grant and FLENJ’s Education Program Abroad Scholarship. Outside of school, Ashley runs the Language and Learning Center, an LLC dedicated to providing a range of educational and linguistic services to schools and businesses. Ashley loves collaborating with other teachers, and is excited to learn and grow through this year’s EdCampWL!
Noemi Rodriguez (@srtanrodriguez) is the Supervisor of World Languages, ESL, Music and Family & Consumer Sciences for the Pascack Valley Regional High School District in northern Bergen County, N.J. She attended Rutgers University, where she earned her B.A. in Spanish and Ed.M. in Language Education & most recently completed her Reading Specialist certification. Prior to supervising, she taught Spanish in the Freehold Township and Marlboro Township school districts in Monmouth County. Noemi has presented at various conferences including: AATSP, ACTFL, FLENJ, ISTE, NECTFL and NJEA. She won, "Best of New Jersey" for her workshop in the 2014 FLENJ Spring Conference. Pamela Rose (@mandarinrose) is the Upper School (5th-8th Grades) Teacher of Mandarin at Far Hills Country Day School in Far Hills, NJ. She received her M.A. from the Graduate Institute of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL) from National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei, where she researched and wrote (in Chinese) her thesis on developing TPRS materials for Mandarin teaching.
Pamela loves teaching and sharing her passion for Mandarin with her students. She's excited to be collaborating with so many other World Language teachers at EdCampWL.
Fernanda Saborido (@saboridof) is a French and Spanish teacher at Wayne Hills High School in Wayne, NJ. She has taught both languages at the middle and high school level over the past 21 years. She received her BA in French and Spanish from Montclair State University and earned her MAT in Spanish and her Supervisor Endorsement from Rutgers University.
As a teacher, Fernanda has experience in writing and revising curriculum and presenting workshops both at the state and district level on a variety of topics, including technology. She is enthusiastic about collaborating and sharing with other world language teachers and has been a mentor for the FLENJ Mentoring Fellowship for the last six years. Fernanda is looking forward to collaborating with other World Language teachers at EdcampWL19.
Kendall Popowski (@kendallpopo) is a high school Spanish teacher in the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District. She has taught middle and high school Spanish in WW-P for 15 years. She received both her BA and MAT from Rutgers University.
