The amount of people with eating disorders In the U.S. has grown almost 300% since the beginning of the pandemic. One way eating disorders are able to "survive" is by hiding. The fact that most people do not have as much education on this topic as they should helps them hide. One of the main purposes of this website is to help people get that education to make survival harder for eating disorders.
It can be hard to get help for your eating or feeding disorder. Either due to cost, travel, or just not being able to identify it. No matter what the eating disorder says everyone, including you, deserves to live a life in recovery. Another reason this site was created was to help those struggling, who might not realize they are, get help.
The idea to make this website first came after I saw a dieting book in a children's section. To some that might not seem like a big deal but as someone who has gone through and is still in recovery, that says a lot. Diet culture is being thrown at people their whole lives. We should start focusing on people's happiness and less on what they look like.
Lastly, I created this website to spite society. Many companies succeed in making people hate themselves. You may not notice it but all diet culture is, is just companies making people feel awful so they can get paid. Some say the body positivity movement can fix that, but can it really? Or is it all just performative activism?
