It has officially been a week! For some reason I'm getting all the uneventful days~
In the morning, Elaine and I got to sleep in while the adults went downtown to do more visitations. The house they went to belonged to one of the church sisters who had a Buddhist daughter-in-law. They stayed to talk and pray for their relationship, which is a little tense due to their conflicting beliefs. We are continuing to pray for their family.
Meanwhile, we worked on the blog and did some prep for the English camp this weekend. So far we are expecting around 5 students, all older students whose English levels range from intermediate to advanced. According to the plans we made, we'll mostly be going over some vocab, playing conversation games, and watching Avatar episodes (for listening purposes of course).
Afterwards we were picked up and headed straight to lunch at a very nice restaurant owned by a sister's son. It was basically American food, and lots of it. We ordered an astronomical tomahawk steak and tried their mac and cheese--they use a different type of cheese so very interesting. Elaine rates lunch a 10/10, I'll rate it a 8.9/10 (my jaw got pretty tired).
We also had devotion tonight, led by Elaine!
We went over Romans 1:14-16:
I am obligated both to Greek and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome. For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
Discussion Questions:
Who were "Greek and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish" referring to? Who are they referring to today?
Have you ever been in debt before? Have you felt the urge to pay off that debt?
Have you ever thought of preaching the gospel as a debt you have to pay off?
What will the gospel bring to people?
Are you involved in gospel-related work? Do you have the faith that you will experience God's power?
After a week, we noticed that we're all fairly tired (we all took some pretty heavy naps in the last few days) so we hope that we can take some time to rest and recover.
Thanks for catching up with us! prayer requests here as always.
~April
We discussed the purpose of spreading gospel and the idea that we perhaps have the responsibility to preach the gospel to ourselves as well, reminding ourselves what it is.
