Prior to the course Providers must be proficient in the following:
Performing high-quality BLS skills through the use of the most recent AHA Guidelines
Reading and interpreting electrocardiograms (ECGs)
Understanding ACLS drugs
Bag-mask ventilations
Complete mandatory ACLS pre-course self assessment test
The ACLS Provider Course is designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years.
Systematic approach
High-quality BLS
Airway management
Rhythm recognition
Intravenous (IV)/intraosseous (I0) access (information only)
Use of medications
Electrical Therapy (Defibrillation, Cardioversion, Transcutaneous pacing)
Team dynamics
Students will practice the application of these and other skills in simulated cases and will practice both Team Leader and team member roles.
Recertification - Approximately 6-8 hrs (4 hrs webinar and 2 hrs skills and exam)
Original - Approximately 12-16 hrs (8 hrs webinar and 4 hrs skills and exam)
AHA ACLS Provider Course Completion eCard valid for 2 years.
ACLS pre-test is a mandatory requirement prior to attending the course. A score of 70% or higher must be achieved. When printing the results, make sure that your name, score and pre-test type is clearly visible.
