Our Meetings

Our meetings are open to anyone who identifies as an Early Career Researcher, and we aim to cover a full range of volcanological topics/areas in our paper choices and discussion.

Here is how it works:

  • ECR Volcanology R-R meet on the second Thursday of the month

  • Meetings are held on Zoom, and last for 60-90 min

  • During meetings openly discuss a recently published or important/keynote paper in volcanology chosen by the organizing committee. Paper choices are informed by the broad theme for that month, which will be one of:
    (1) Pre-eruption triggers, mechanisms and warnings
    (2) Intra-eruption processes
    (3) Post-eruption impacts & responses

  • Discussions will be moderated by 1-2 members of the organizing committee

  • The next paper would be announced at the end of the prior meeting, giving attendees 4 weeks to read it.

NOTE: Please don't hesitate to contact us if you do not have access to the papers through an institutional address.

If you would like to leave feedback on any of our meetings, or even if you have ideas for how we can improve the accessibility of the series, we would love to hear from you!
