We kicked start this project with an aim for schools and communities to reduce single-use plastic consumption and pollution by repurposing plastic waste to create and produce brand-new plastic products. Through this, it was hoped that:
Schools could develop and implement sustainable on-site practices for managing recyclable and non-recyclable plastic waste.
Schools could identify and introduce economically viable alternatives for single-use plastics.
Schools could ensure environmentally sustainable and ethical practices for plastic waste management are embedded in the daily lives of the students, and the wider community.
Schools could encourage partner schools and communities to take up the challenge of developing their own plastic waste management projects, to contribute to a wider action-based initiative.
