Let's start with the question we are asked most often - What is EcoWira?

EcoWira (EcoHero) is an eco-education project-based learning programme for primary and secondary students, in Malaysian Trust Schools. It is a collaboration between LeapEd Services, and Roots & Shoots Malaysia, which is affiliated with the Jane Goodall Institute and the network of Roots & Shoots associations across the globe.

The aim of the project is to empower students with knowledge, skills, values and behaviours required to develop sustainable solutions for environmental issues in their local communities. In this project, the Roots & Shoots 4 step formula for compassionate leadership has been aligned with the design thinking cycle to create a locally relevant Environmental Literacy Curriculum (ELC), encompassing Teacher information handbooks, and a student workbook - which is presented in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.

The EcoWira pilot project was originally scheduled to run from February to July, 2020. With Covid-19, MCO and RMCO, the dates have been adjusted accordingly. Please keep an eye out for more updates as the situation continues.
