How do Environmental Changes Affect Living Together?
In an ecosystem, plants, animals, and other living things share the same environment. But, what happens when that environment changes?
In an ecosystem, both living things and nonliving things interact, If nonliving things cause the ecosystem to change, the living things will be affected. However, living things can also cause change to an ecosystem.
Nonliving things that cause an ecosystem to change:
* fires
* powerful storms
* floods
* drought
* erosion
Living things that cause an ecosystem to change:
- animals building shelters
* beavers build dams
* termites build mounds
- overgrowth of plants
* algae in ponds
- disease in plants and animals
* can kill lots of plants and/or animals
People can cause the ecosystem to change too!
We cut trees down to build houses.
We dig up rocks and stones to make roads.
We also cause a lot of pollution throughout many ecosystems.
We can cause fires that can turn into wildfires.
Watch this video about changes to ecosystems.
We Can Help!!!!!!

3. Choose one that you are interested in. Complete your graphic organizer with your partner.
4. Once your Google Maps Graphic Organizer is complete, you need to open up a new My Maps in Google Maps.
5. Find the location of your ecosystem, and use the draw a line tool to map out the area of your ecosystem. Don't forget to label your area with the event name.
6. Then use your graphic organizer to write a paragraph about the event in the description box of your map. You must include the cause and effect of the event, which living and nonliving things were affected, and how you think it could have been prevented.
7. Bonus- Try to find and place a point on a specific place on the map. Pick a place that was the most affected, where the event started, or a place where something important happened.
Here is an example of your activity!
