Rehearsal Skills (40%)- Students participate by following the clear and stated expectations, having their required materials, and being attentive in class.
Playing Quizzes (20%)- Students will be given measures to perform their playing quizzes with days to prepare. They may perform with one other student from their instrument section. These are graded in-class, but feedback is not given in front of peers.
Theory Assignments (15%)- Students complete worksheets to reinforce musical knowledge and skills. Work must be done legibly.
End of Semester Exam (10%)- Students have one exam a semester to demonstrate understanding core concepts taught in class. This exam has an optional worksheet provided that will be reviewed in class.
Concerts (15%)- Concerts are a celebration! They are meant to commemorate your growth throughout the year. Therefore, I do not grade your performance. I do penalize for forgetting concert materials, improper etiquette, or incorrect concert attire. For concert attendance, I understand students are stretched with various commitments. If you know there will be a conflict, please contact Ms. Lege as soon as possible.
Extra Credit- There is no extra credit. Large assignments and concerts already have the dates posted. Other assignments will always have a minimum of one week to complete them. If there are extenuating circumstances, please communicate them when able.
