8th Grade Band
A full year course in band that continues to build on the fundamentals learned in 6th and 7th grades. This class also performs at the GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation each year and has the opportunity to participate in UGA's Middle School Honor Band with Mr. Holley-Turner's nomination. 8th Grade band members are eligible for the performing arts trip in the Spring Semester. Performance opportunities in 8th Grade include:

8th Grade Night
Students will spend time playing with and getting to know the high school musicians and directors at East Coweta High School.
UGA Middle School Honor Band Festival (MidFest)
Students may be nominated by their director and, if accepted, will submit a short audition.
This is a two and a half day event where students rehearse and watch performances and culminates in a performance.
GMEA All-State and District Honor Bands
Students may audition in the Fall semester for a spot in either of these groups.
District Honor Band takes place in February.
All-State Band takes place in March in Athens, GA

Performing Arts Trip
Students travel to Orlando, FL to perform and enjoy the parks of Universal, Islands of Adventure, or those at Disney.
Coweta County Honor Band
Students may audition in the Spring semester for a spot in this group which is lead by nationally renowned teachers and conductors.
This is a two-day event that culminates in a performance! All students are encouraged to participate.
Solo and Ensemble Festival
Students have a chance to team up with their friends in 6th, 7th, and/or 8th grade to perform as a small group or by themselves as a soloist for a judge and to receive a rating.
