PLAY WITH ME
DESIGN PROJECT BY ELA COHEN
THE LOCAL GEOMETRY OF 12 BUILDINGS AN ECLECTIC STYLE IN TEL AVIV
The most common architectural style in Tel Aviv of the 1920 s was the eclectic style, named for being a collection – that is, an assortment of different styles. The majority of Jewish immigrants who settled in the Middle East originated from Europe. Just as they themselves were a combination of east and west, so were their buildings. Eclecticism combined oriental elements, such as arched windows, with western elements, such as neoclassical pillars.

THE ICONS
The vivid impression of the eclectic elements of the architecture of the white city led the designer Ela Cohen to create images of each house. She explored the history of the house from its founding to the present day and created such unique icons:
BEN NAHUM HOTEL
BEIT PAGODA
This deck of playing cards PLAY WITH ME has been designed by Ela Cohen - an art curator and graphic designer.
The back of the cards features the traditional floor tile pattern in the 50's year in Tel Aviv's buildings.
All images were inspired by Tel Aviv's Eclectic style buildings, historical research and up-to-date picture. The two jokers represent an iconic orthodox jew.
