Welcome to Lisbon,
one of the oldest cities in the world

The city of the seven hills

Lisbon’s rich historical heritage intertwines with modernity to create a vibrant and unique atmosphere.

You can explore our famous miradouros or ride the Santa Justa elevator for the breathtaking view over the city; visit UNESCO World Heritage sites to learn a bit of Portuguese history or, if you want to completely immerse yourself in Portuguese culture, listen to fado live in one of the traditional casas de fado - just to name a few activities.

Other things not to miss in Lisbon are our beautiful (and slippery!) calçada portuguesa, the azulejos portugueses (Portuguese tiles), and the opportunity to taste some of the 100 ways to cook bacalhau (codfish).

And if you feel like winding down and relax after the ECHR & ICHR meetings, you can always drink a coffee with Fernando Pessoa, one of the most famous Portuguese writers, or try to figure out where the best Pastéis de Belém are sold.

This is the beauty of Lisbon: everything is possible.
