Membership in Echoes of Pembroke is open to full-time registered students at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke who possess prior instrumental performance experience and are willing to commit to the rehearsal, performance, and travel schedule of the ensemble. Members are expected to demonstrate responsibility, collaboration, and a positive ensemble attitude and must adhere to the Constitution and Bylaws of Echoes of Pembroke, which outline organizational expectations and standards of conduct. Echoes of Pembroke welcomes students from all academic majors, and the ensemble is composed of individuals from a variety of disciplines beyond music, contributing to a broad and interdisciplinary membership.
Echoes of Pembroke, like all performance ensembles, requires a significant time commitment from its members and primarily rehearses during the spring academic semester at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Rehearsals are held three evenings per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, allowing for consistent musical and visual development throughout the season. Rehearsal scheduling is intentionally designed to ensure that participation in Echoes of Pembroke does not conflict with any other instrumental ensemble within the UNCP Department of Music, enabling students to remain fully engaged in departmental ensembles and academic coursework.
Rehearsals culminate in a competitive performance season that includes regional events within the Atlantic Indoor Association (AIA) and Winter Guard International (WGI). A full rehearsal and performance calendar can be found by clicking here (2025/2026 Calendar of Events), and will be updated throughout the season as dates and events are finalized.
Members of Echoes of Pembroke are required to pay $50 in membership dues. These dues help support operational costs such as equipment, rehearsal materials, and other organization fees. If you have financial concerns, please reach out to us. We will try our best to work with you to develop a plan.
Students interested in joining Echoes of Pembroke must complete several initial steps prior to participation. Prospective members are expected to review the ensemble’s Constitution and Bylaws, submit the Echoes of Pembroke Interest Form, join the ensemble’s Band App group for official communication, complete the required Emergency Contact Form, and follow Echoes of Pembroke on social media for updates and announcements. Additional audition information, materials, and next steps will be shared with interested students once the required forms have been submitted. Links to these forms can be found below:
