Early Childhood Education
I believe as an Early Childhood Educator, I am responsible for providing a caring, respectful, nurturing, learning environment for children. Children are precious, vulnerable, curious, and innocent human beings and should be handled with careful supervision. It is my purpose to not only give them careful supervision but in addition, strive to make sure parents are at the forefront of their learning and well-being. Children and their parents are the vital foundation for a wonderful early childhood experience for a student. Parents are the child’s most important teachers. Families are a significant aspect for the student because they are their child's first teacher. I am an engaged listener in the parent and child’s everyday learning environment. I believe that children can learn through play which develops relationships and their learning. I believe interacting with others, and hands-on learning activities strengthen a child’s overall skills. I strive to have the utmost respect and love for all the children I teach.
As an early childhood educator, I aspire to not only help children learn fundamental skills but get them excited to explore new things and learn through interactive activities giving them fulfillment in the love of learning. This is my role with every child I teach. It will be a priority to engage students through fun, exciting activities because I believe that if children aren’t having fun, then they aren’t learning to their greatest possibility. It is my job to help them find their individual path by giving them opportunities to fit their individual abilities. Through every opportunity, I will keep the interests of the child ahead of everything else. This is what I hope for all aspects of my career in an early childhood environment.
Here are my staunch beliefs as a teacher in this meaningful profession. I want to teach my students to be genuine individuals and clearly be themselves. I will work hard in the classroom to understand children’s interests and desires. A child’s need for healthy eating and quality nutrition is vital for effective development. In my classroom, I will strive to make that a priority. I will try to be the best person I can be for the children that I work with and to model appropriate behaviors not only with the child but the families and my colleagues as well. I want to collaborate with colleagues and respect them to ensure concrete teamwork. I will make sure I am aware of current issues and trends in all early childhood education and other areas that affect those in early childhood education. I believe that education is an evolving, powerful, and lifelong process. I take the role of the teacher seriously to educate children about the unknown world. I believe in teaching consistent standards and clear expectations. I believe in open communication with parents and family members. I believe in parent involvement in my classroom. I believe in connecting learning to student’s real life. I believe in challenging each student individually according to his or her potential. I believe in making time for each student because that matters in academic growth in the school year. I believe in a warm classroom community where each student is valued and given special attention. Regardless of a child’s background, they will be included. Diversity will be embraced in my classroom. Every child teaches in my classroom, not just the teacher.
My overall goal is to focus on the individual needs and potential of the student as well as their emotional, social, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development. I want to guide them in creativity, and innovative thinking. I also want to acknowledge perseverance, celebrate success, turn frustration into learning opportunities, awaken social responsibility, and model fairness. I want to be a strong passionate role model for my students. I represent these values for the children by cultivating learning, honesty, compassion, and integrity in my educational community. I create a trusting and safe atmosphere for students to explore, question, practice, make mistakes, and imagine. By embracing a set of ethical values, I commit to communicating with my classroom, parents, and colleagues. A strong partnership with parents is valuable to me.
My curriculum in the classroom will be based on the theorists, Jean Piaget, and Dr. Marie Montessori. “Never help a child with a task at which he/she feels like they can succeed.” – Marie Montessori. I believe replicating these theories give children the vehicle to master academically in the classroom. I believe that children learn through hands-on experiments. Learning through play in a prepared environment develops intelligence, creativity, and independence. I seek to facilitate learning by making the process of education uncomplicated also. This does not mean lowering standards. But it rather means teaching them to think critically. I believe children need to know how to go beyond the basic facts – who, what where, and when, while questioning the world around them. Giving children a sense of self-reliance and self-support pushes children to successfully do things on their own. Which I believe prepares them for the world ahead.
Overall, I believe children need nurturing and care from their environment at home and in the classroom. Every child needs to be educationally driven, protected, adequately nourished nutritionally, loved, and care for. I believe teachers and parents have a duty to make the child’s well-being prosperous. Children learn through play, education, and their surrounding environment. Every child has their own identity and differs in strengths, interests, and the ability to elevate their learning. All children regardless of their background or culture have a right to belong. They should be able to equally access opportunities and resources without apprehension or criticism. I am committed to ensuring a quality and productive learning experience for every child under my supervision and tutelage.
