Unlike many educators, my interest in childhood education started well after I completed my career with the US Postal Service. With three children of my own, I’ve always been intrigued with childhood education and its fundamentals.
My personal experiences with my own children (now adults), influence my desire and passion to help be a positive impact in other children’s lives.
I am fortunate to have had teachers and educators in my life that impacted me through my most pivotal ages and even now as I complete my education degree later in life. My experiences as a student helped shape my views as a parent and educator. As a kid, the schoolhouse, yes, that’s how we referred to it many years ago, was more than an education space. It developed some of the greatest relationships and sparked my creativity and intuition.
In an everchanging world, my goal is to be intentional in everything I share with my students, providing them with practical examples through a real-world lens.
My passion for early childhood education was confirmed during my time as a student teacher. I volunteer at a school, working with students at the Pre-K/Kindergarten level and with diverse backgrounds, different learning paths and needs.
My ability to help students with Autism and even personal trauma has strengthened my belief in importance the of education.
My kids had teachers that helped mold them to be who they are today. So, as I begin my journey as a teacher, I am focused and charged to create a welcoming, safe, and thought-provoking environment.
Teaching has become more than a profession to me, and I am committed to making a meaningful difference in my students’ lives. I want them to be open minded, grounded, aware of each other’s differences while embracing them.
