Sublime Text

Although not necessary, it is highly recommended to use Sublime Text as the text editor for this project. Installation of Sublime Text can be done through the downloads page. Choose the appropriate operating system for downloading Sublime Text.

HTML Tutorial

Students unfamiliar with HTML is recommended to go through this tutorial of HTML as introduction. Once familiar with HTML, answer the following questions in your own words:

What are HTML tags?
How are HTML attributes used?
What goes inside the <body> tag?
Which tag is used to link to different webpages? Also, specify the attribute used to create references.
What is the difference between inline element vs block elements? What are some examples of inline elements and block elements?
What tag is used to get user input?

CSS Tutorial

Student unfamiliar with CSS is recommended to go through this quick overview of CSS as introduction. Once familiar with CSS, answer the following question:

How does the syntax of CSS work?
What are the three ways to applying CSS style? What are some of the pros and/or cons of using each method?

Node.js Tutorial

Student unfamiliar with Node.js is recommended to go through this tutorial of Node.js as introduction. Once finished with Node.js, go through this tutorial of Express. Once familiar with Node.js and Express, answer the following questions:

Which programming language is used for Node.js?
Does Node.js run on client or server?
How to import module in Node.js?
Node.js modules can be exposed using which command? (i.e. if I write some code in file A, which command do I need to use to ensure my code from file A is visible in file B?)
Which module in Node.js is used to listen to http request?
What is the purpose of the folloiwng HTTP methods: GET, POST, PUT, DELETE?

Webserver Exercise

Before starting to build the website for this project, lets practice building our own website first.

Create a website with two pages using Node.js and Express: About page and Another page of your choice. The user should freely be able to navigate between pages. Create a separate css file for styling.

As an example, check out the two image below. Notice that both of the pages have different URL.
