Describe your appearance when you introduce yourself;
Describe all images and graphics in the same way one would add alt text (i.e. in the context of the surrounding information);
Read all text in your slides out loud;
Define all acronyms, abbreviations, and jargon;
Keep hands and objects away from mouth when speaking;
To support automatic captions during virtual presentations, try to talk more slowly than you otherwise would;
Make presentations clear and concise.
Submitted presentation materials will be posted to the eCAUG website and must be accessible. To ensure this, please use the following guidelines:
Preferred formats: PowerPoint, Google Slides, Google Docs, MS Word;
Use an easy-to-read font in size 18pt (or larger, when appropriate) on slides;
Include a title on each slide;
Limit the amount of text on slides;
Use alt text for all digital images (e.g. photos, logos, graphics);
Ensure you have sufficient color contrast;
Embed captions in video content;
Check for logical reading order;
Use accessible templates and built-in formatting to support assistive technology when possible.
