Punjab means five rivers. It is named so because Punjab used to consist of 5 rivers i.e. Sutlej, Ravi, Beas, Chenab and Jhelum. Though after partition Chenab and Jhelum remained in the Pakistan side of Punjab.

Due to its vivid geographical position, its strong inhabitants, and richness, Punjab has always been under war through out history.
Earlier Punjab used to consist of whole North India and Pakistan, but after independence old Punjab got divided into many states.
But even after all the bloodshed and troubles, Punjab and its people have stood strong through their will power and overcame every obstacle to a point of peace and development.
