Due to COVID-19 this event will be held online
Welcome and congratulations on advancing from your local rounds! Now it is time to face the international competition! In this round, teams from Uppsala (Sweden), Moscow (Russia), Košice (Slovakia), CentraleSupélec (France), Brno (Czech Republic) and Bratislava (Slovakia) will compete in team design and case study to determine which team in each category will get to compete in the final round of EBEC!
The event will be spread out over two weekends in May, starting on Friday evening, the 7th of May with an opening session. After that, the Saturday and Sunday (8th-9th of May) will be the main working days - both for the team design teams and case study teams. Last day will be on the 15th of May, where the team design teams will present their solutions and the winners of both categories will be announced! Take a look at the schedule for more information.
A week before the event, on 3rd of May, at 20:00 CEST, we will also do testing of the online platform, Discord, to sort out any issues. Here, you will also have the opportunity to ask questions. If you cannot join for this part, be sure to join the server before this date and get assigned to your team. In short: the deadline to join the Discord server is 3rd of May!
This will be a fully online round, over the platform Discord. All participants need to join our Discord server with this link or the QR code below. Discord is available in browsers, but it is recommended to use the client version, which is available for Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Android and iOS devices. You can join our server already today if you want to.

How does an online round of EBEC work?
EBEC is normally a physical event, but due to the unfortunate circumstances, we will be online this time, which gives us some new challenges - but the spirit of the event remains! So how will this work in practice?
As you know by now, EBEC has two different categories: case study (CS) and team design (TD), which will be explained below.
You will solve two different CSs in the regional round - one per day. Instructions will be given on the task you will solve in the beginning of each day. You work together over Discord when solving these problems.
We require that you work with each-other online - everyone should be online on their own device. Do not meet up and work together in person, both for your own safety, but also to keep it fair - it is not sure that all teams can meet up, and therefore we keep it online for everyone.
The team design is slightly harder to adapt to an online round as you are supposed to build something. Exactly how this will work depends on the task, which will be kept secret until the event starts. But you will most likely design or build something with a computer tool. If the task involves some tool, you will be given instructions on how to install and use this tool before the events start so that you can familiarize yourself with it.
Those instructions will be given to you at the very least two weeks before the event starts (that is 24th of April)! As with the CS, you will not meet up in person, but work over Discord. For each TD team, at least one person should run Windows (7, 8 or 10). If this is an issue for your team, please contact us as soon as possible and we will help you solve this!
