YOUTH MINISTRY (70%):
This individual will pastor the youth of Emmanuel Baptist Church, as well as students from the surrounding community who participate in our ministry, by:
Forming intentional relationships with students that encourage and facilitate spiritual growth
Planning and leading weekly youth group gatherings and Sunday School classes
Recruiting, training, and discipling adult volunteers
Developing and empowering student leaders and providing meaningful opportunities for them to grow
Coordinating and participating in mission trips, retreats, camps, and other youth ministry events
*While this position has historically followed a particular ministry format, there is full support and freedom for the pastor to develop and shape the youth ministry according to his gifts and leadership, in alignment with the mission, theology, and ministry philosophy of Emmanuel Baptist Church. The goal of this position is not simply to maintain a youth program, but to develop a healthy ministry of discipleship that equips students, parents, and adult volunteers to make disciples.
WORSHIP MINISTRY (20%)
This individual will help shepherd Emmanuel Baptist Church in Christ-exalting worship through music by:
Planning weekly music sets that are appropriate for worship and aligned with the theology and ministry philosophy of Emmanuel Baptist Church
Leading the worship team and congregation in exalting Jesus through music each week
Developing and maintaining a balanced worship repertoire, while thoughtfully introducing new music
Empowering worship team members with opportunities for leadership and service while continually identifying and developing new talent
Overseeing the audio/visual ministry, equipping volunteers, and helping ensure the church has the necessary technology and support for worship services and other ministry needs
*While a love for corporate worship and musical ability are important to us, we do not expect every candidate to come with extensive worship-leading experience. If you are musically inclined but newer to leading congregational worship, we are very comfortable treating that aspect of the position as entry-level. We see this as an area for intentional mentoring, training, and gradual development over time.
*While this position gives considerable freedom to develop and strengthen the worship ministry at Emmanuel Baptist Church, the Council of Elders retains primary responsibility for the theological and pastoral direction of the church’s worship.
OTHER PASTORAL DUTIES (10%)
In addition to his primary responsibilities in youth and worship ministry, this individual will participate in the broader pastoral and administrative ministry of Emmanuel Baptist Church by:
Participating in staff meetings, ministry planning, and other administrative responsibilities
Serving alongside the Senior Pastor and Council of Elders in the broader shepherding ministry of the church
Preaching and teaching on an occasional basis, as opportunities arise
Participating in weddings, funerals, church-wide events, and other pastoral ministry opportunities
Assisting with other ministry responsibilities as needed and appropriate
