Be a man who demonstrates the character and spiritual maturity necessary for pastoral ministry and who is capable of growing toward the qualifications for eldership outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:6–9
Demonstrate a passion for discipling students and engaging younger generations to grow in their love for God and His glory through large-group, small-group, and individual discipleship
Possess vocal and/or instrumental ability suitable for musical leadership
Demonstrate appropriate preparation for pastoral ministry through education, theological training, and/or relevant ministry experience. A college degree in a related field or theological training through a Bible college or seminary is preferred but not required; relevant ministry experience and demonstrated competency will also be considered
Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect relationally with students, parents, volunteers, and the congregation and to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and through appropriate digital and social media platforms
Have a willingness and desire to pursue further job-related training and education
Must affirm and support Emmanuel Baptist Church's Affirmation of Faith and Covenant
RELATIONSHIPS & ACCOUNTABILITY
Reports directly to the Senior Pastor and works collaboratively with him in carrying out the pastoral and ministry responsibilities of the position.
Serves under the spiritual and theological oversight of the Council of Elders and supports the mission, theology, and ministry philosophy of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Works collaboratively with church staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and parents to promote unity and effectiveness across the church’s ministries.
Participates in the broader pastoral ministry of Emmanuel Baptist Church as appropriate, including congregational care, teaching, visitation, and other pastoral responsibilities.
The Associate Pastor is not a member of the Council of Elders by virtue of his position. As he demonstrates the character, spiritual maturity, and qualifications for eldership, he may be appointed to the Council of Elders in accordance with the church’s Constitution and Bylaws.
