Homeschool Edition
Instructions for Parents
Aloha Parents!
Thank you for your interest in the Home Garden Network Homeschool Edition (HHE) curriculum. The included lessons are created to introduce children to basic gardening concepts through hands-on STEM activities.
Each lesson is in .pdf format and includes:
Notes unique to each lesson for the educator. This section will include tips for the lesson, extra knowledge to facilitate better growing, and additional ideas that can be implemented during lessons.
The lesson with graphics/references for the parent and student to read through together. Discussion questions are included in blue italicized font to prompt further comprehension.
Hands on activities that correspond with the lesson material including a list of materials and reiteration of material covered.
Links to short lesson videos (see below) for the parent or parents and student to watch together. Videos will highlight the main points of the lesson and introduce some of the activities you will be completing.
Lessons are meant to be completed with your student and move sequentially from understanding seeds to growing and harvesting your own produce. The lessons are designed to be flexible in order to promote complete understanding of each concept. With this in mind, I would highly encourage taking the time your student needs to fully understand and appreciate the subject matter.
Before you begin your lessons, we are asking that you complete a brief survey. Upon completion of the program, please take a post survey. Both links are located below. Your provided feedback is very important to our program development. Data gathered will be confidential and used to assess the curriculum's impact on the student’s knowledge and interests in relation to gardening.
Thank you again and have fun on your new adventure!
Respectfully,
HHE Team
