Christ exemplified and invited us to live the law of love, to see as God sees and love as He loves. We may be unsure of how to do this for friends and family members who are part of the LGBTQ community. Elder Quentin L. Cook said, “As a church, nobody should be more loving and compassionate. … Let us be at the forefront in terms of expressing love, compassion, and outreach. Let’s not have families exclude or be disrespectful of those who choose a different lifestyle…” Many people want to offer love and support, but we don’t know what that looks or sounds like. How can we counteract discomfort, conflict, and misunderstanding with meaningful connection? How can we choose love over fear and lean into, not away from, those in the LGBTQ community?
