Station 2: The Garden

Kelley Park

Kelley Park is located next to Happy Hollow Zoo and the Japanese Friendship Garden (currently under construction). It is a good place for picnicking or short relaxing walks. There’s lots of room to run around in for children. Dogs are allowed on a leash.

Address: 1650 Senter Road, San Jose

Benches: Picnic tables, benches and steps available

Walking paths: gravel paths and grass

Shade: lots of shade

Parking: $6 parking fee for Senter Road entrance; may be waived during COVID-19

Hours: 8am to 1 hour after sunset

Restrooms: Located at various points throughout the park; check for closure

What to bring: Blanket to put on the grass, water, sunscreen, Bible, notebook, pencil, printed reflection instructions.

UCSC Botanical Gardens

The arboretum and botanical gardens are a part of UC Santa Cruz campus. It’s a good place to wander and think, and features a collection of plants and flowers from around the world. Benches and picnic tables are scattered around in semi-private locations.

Parking: Free with entrance fee of $5 for adults and $2 for children age 6+

Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm
