East Belfast Historical Society

Welcome to the Society!

Established in 1970, the East Belfast Historical Society - also known as EBHS - is one of Northern Ireland's leading local historical societies. We are registered with the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland NIC 103307 and affiliated to the Federation for Ulster Local Studies.

Since the Society's foundation, monthly meetings have normally been held on the second Thursday of the month (from September to May). Meetings were suspended after March 2020 due to the restrictions resulting from the pandemic and lack of a suitable venue. Fortunately, all that is now past history and we are pleased to annouce the resumption of meetings starting 8 September 2022 at our new venue - Belmont Bowling Club. Click on the Programme page for details of our 2022/23 schedule.
