GL stands for Granda Learning. CEM is Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring at University of Durham. Therefore , GL test and CEM test are just two different styles of test from two different companies! And each school, if they produce their own test papers, then will have their own unique styles.

However, no matter how different they are in style, the core content is similar if not the same. This makes it ever more important to plan the revision.

If you have some idea about which school or which area to prepare for, find out what type of papers they use. Sometimes, all schools in a region use the same paper, e.g. Kent. Sometimes, you may find the schools you are interested in have all different kinds of tests- GL, CEM and proprietary designs. If this is the case, covering the basics before spending most of your time on specific questions.
