Self-care tips

Before Your Session

Advice for First-Timers.

Reiki is a wonderful balancing of energy.

It can leave us feeling centered and renewed.

Below are some tips before your Reiki session to help you prepare to receive Reiki energy:

The day before:

  • Limit alcohol consumption.
    • Reiki helps the body remove toxins, hence it’s good to avoid alcohol, which can be hard for your liver and kidneys to process. Alcohol can be dehydrating and make it harder for the liver and kidneys to flush out toxins. Everyone’s body is different. Listen to your body and opt for some tea or water instead.
  • Drink water.
    • Water helps hydrate the body’s cells and flush out toxins. Drinking water in the hours beforehand is a good idea. It also can help you feel more rested. Many people feel more tired when they are dehydrated. Make sure to use the restroom if you need to prior to your Reiki session, so that you can fully relax and enjoy the experience.
  • Get adequate rest.
    • There is no need to worry. Reiki energy knows where to go, and the intention is being set that you receive what you need for the Highest Good.

The day of:

  • Wear comfortable clothes.
    • You will be removing your shoes, but your clothes stay on. Lying down in comfortable clothes is much more relaxing, though if you are coming from work, I understand! There are onsite restrooms if you want to bring a change of clothes.
  • Use the restroom.
    • Make sure to use the restroom if you need to prior to your Reiki session, so that you can fully relax and enjoy the experience.
  • Plan to give yourself time after the session to ground, rest, and allow the energy to integrate.
    • Go for a gentle walk in nature, put your bare feet in the ground, and just experience the joy and space of this new energy.
