A very specific group of mutants find themselves mysteriously connected through some magical link.
Now they must team up with Captains Britain so that they can unravel the mystery that connects them and together protect mutantkind from an evil force that cannot be seen: the supernatural!
Years after the fall of the X-Men, strange psychic visions, occult rituals, and dimensional disturbances begin connecting mutants across the world to a mysterious realm known as the Otherworld. Haunted by recurring nightmares and cryptic messages from beyond reality, Kitty Pryde seeks out Kurt Wagner, whose encounter with Azazel’s cult exposed him to the horrors of Limbo and the possibility that the dead may still exist somewhere beyond the veil. As the mystery deepens, Piotr Rasputin abandons his isolated life searching for answers about his lost sister, while Betsy Braddock discovers that the growing instability is directly tied to Avalon, the Braddock legacy, and ancient forces tied to the Otherworld itself.
To confront the spreading chaos, Betsy reunites a fractured group of mutants and allies at the Braddock Lighthouse: Shadowcat, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Prestige, Gloriana, Lady and Lord Britain. Each carries their own grief, unanswered past, and connection to the supernatural events unfolding around them. Bound not by Xavier’s dream, but by loss, duty, and the need to prevent reality itself from collapsing, they form a new Excalibur, a team standing at the intersection of mutantkind, magic, and myth, where Avalon, Limbo, and the Otherworld threaten to consume far more than just their world.
The first mission of Excalibur begins when the dimensional fractures surrounding Otherworld intensify beyond containment. Entire regions of reality begin overlapping with visions of ruined kingdoms, spectral armies, and ancient magical symbols connected to Morgana Le Fay. At the center of these disturbances stands Madelyne Pryor, whose descent into darker mysticism has led her to pursue a forbidden ritual capable of freeing Morgana from her ancient imprisonment. Unbeknownst to her, the true force influencing her actions is Chthon, who manipulates the growing instability from the shadows through cursed visions and fragments of forbidden knowledge tied to the Darkhold.
Guided by visions tied to Avalon and the Braddock bloodline, Betsy Braddock leads the newly formed Excalibur beyond the veil separating worlds. Alongside Lord Britain, Nightcrawler, Prestige, Shadowcat, Gloriana, and Colossus, the group crosses into a realm of forgotten castles, cursed forests, and kingdoms suspended between myth and ruin. Though united by necessity, each member carries their own purpose into the journey. For Piotr, beneath every battle and every mystery lies one desperate hope: finding a way to save Magik from the darkness that consumed her.
Their path through Otherworld quickly becomes an epic pilgrimage through hostile territories shaped by ancient magic. Monstrous creatures stalk ruined roads, spectral knights guard abandoned fortresses, and shifting landscapes seem alive with intention. Throughout the journey, the grotesque Sugarman follows the group through the shadows like a parasitic scavenger, stealing magical artifacts, sabotaging routes, and whispering false promises meant to fracture the team from within. Much like a twisted guide lost to greed and obsession, Sugarman becomes a constant presence haunting their every step through the realm.
As Excalibur approaches the ancient pathways leading toward Morgana’s prison, they are intercepted by the cult of Azazel. The demonic mutants, believing the collapse of dimensional barriers will allow their dominion to spread freely across realities, ambush the heroes within the ruins of a forgotten cathedral suspended over Limbo itself. There, Nightcrawler is forced to confront the nightmare that has haunted him since his encounter with Azazel’s followers. Refusing to let fear or guilt define him any longer, Kurt challenges Azazel directly to a duel within the burning ruins. Sword against sword, faith against corruption, the battle becomes deeply personal. In the end, Nightcrawler defeats Azazel publicly before his cult, overcoming the shadow that had followed him for years and scattering the demonic followers across Otherworld.
Deeper within the realm, the team discovers that Belasco has been exploiting the dimensional chaos spreading across Limbo and Avalon for his own gain. Using the instability created by Chthon’s influence over Madelyne, Belasco seeks to expand his dominion through Limbo while feeding the corruption consuming Otherworld. During their search through the corrupted depths of Limbo, Excalibur finally uncovers the fate of Illyana herself. Belasco has been keeping Illyana imprisoned within an infernal fortress, using her soul and connection to dark magic to strengthen the collapsing dimensional barriers under his control.
The rescue quickly turns into a brutal and exhausting siege. Belasco manipulates Limbo itself against the team, separating members of Excalibur across collapsing corridors, demonic catacombs, and shifting landscapes consumed by fire and darkness. Shadowcat and Nightcrawler battle through endless hordes while Lord Britain and Gloriana hold back the spreading corruption threatening to consume the fortress entirely. Meanwhile, Betsy and Prestige engage Belasco psychically, resisting horrifying visions designed to break their minds and force them into despair.
At the center of the battle stands Colossus himself. Exhausted and wounded after the journey through Otherworld, Piotr forces his way toward his sister while Belasco relentlessly attacks him both physically and emotionally, mocking his failure to save Illyana years ago. The confrontation becomes savage and deeply personal, with Colossus enduring overwhelming punishment while refusing to stop moving forward. In the climax of the siege, Excalibur finally frees Illyana from Belasco’s control, forcing the demon sorcerer into retreat deeper within Limbo. Though victorious, the team emerges devastated and barely able to continue their mission.
The final battle unfolds at the gates of Morgana’s prison, where Madelyne finally completes the ritual under Chthon’s influence despite Excalibur’s efforts. Demonic forces spread across the battlefield as reality itself begins collapsing around Avalon and Otherworld. Betsy and Brian stand together as the protectors of Avalon, leading the charge against the corrupted armies while Shadowcat phases through collapsing structures attempting to disrupt the ritual from within. As the dimensional barriers shatter, Morgana Le Fay finally returns, not fully restored, but reborn as a dark and looming presence rising over Otherworld like an ancient evil returning to reclaim a forgotten kingdom.
Though Excalibur manages to survive the destruction surrounding them, the mission ends in partial failure. Morgana’s return sends shockwaves across Avalon, Limbo, and Earth itself, while the balance between magic and reality grows dangerously unstable. The journey changes the team forever, binding them not simply as mutants, but as guardians standing against forces older and darker than anything the X-Men had ever faced.
