Rachel Summers, known as Prestige, is a mutant telepath and sorceress born in one of the darkest futures imaginable, a world where the Sentinels achieved sentience and drove humanity and mutantkind into extinction, slavery, and endless persecution. Raised not as a child but as a weapon, Rachel spent much of her early life imprisoned as a Hound under the control of Nimrod, forced to hunt other mutants with her psychic abilities.
Everything changed when a rebellion led by Commander Pryde rescued her and entrusted her with a desperate mission: travel across time itself and prevent the mutant genocide before it could ever happen. Though the mission succeeded, Rachel lost everything she knew in the collapse of her original timeline and became stranded inside Avalon, a mysterious Arthurian semi-dimension separated from reality itself.
Now isolated in the Otherworld, haunted by memories of a dead future and guided by cryptic prophecies, Rachel searches for a path home while her psychic messages echo across dimensions toward minds that may no longer understand her.
Rachel Summers was born in a dystopian future within District-3, USA, during the final years of civilization. By the time of her birth, the Sentinels had already evolved beyond their original programming, achieving independent sentience and seizing control over the world.
What followed was the systematic extermination of humanity and mutantkind alike.
Entire populations were massacred, cities transformed into surveillance states, and surviving mutants either enslaved or exterminated. In this brutal world, Rachel never experienced a normal childhood. As an infant, she was kidnapped and transformed into a Hound, a specialized psionic mutant conditioned to hunt and identify rebellious mutants hiding from Sentinel authority.
Her captor was Nimrod, one of the most advanced Sentinel entities ever created.
Under Nimrod’s control, Rachel endured years of psychological conditioning, emotional deprivation, and psychic manipulation. Her telepathic gifts were weaponized against her own people, forcing her to become an unwilling instrument of oppression.
During her imprisonment, Rachel formed her only meaningful emotional connection with another prisoner: Franklin Richards. The two became cellmates and confidants, surviving together through isolation and hopelessness while the world outside continued collapsing.
Everything changed when a resistance movement led by Commander Pryde infiltrated District-3.
The resistance had discovered a possible way to stop the future mutant massacre before it could happen. To accomplish this, they needed a powerful psychic capable of projecting consciousness backward through time itself.
That psychic was Rachel Summers.
Commander Pryde herself had once belonged to the legendary X-Men, and the plan centered around sending her consciousness into the body of her younger self in the past. Through this warning, the X-Men could change history and prevent the catastrophic future Rachel came from.
Rachel joined the rebellion alongside Franklin Richards, finally choosing to fight against the nightmare she had been born into.
The mission succeeded.
Rachel successfully projected Commander Pryde’s mind into the past, warning the X-Men about the dark future awaiting mutantkind. The intervention created massive temporal instability, causing Rachel’s original timeline to begin collapsing entirely.
Reality itself started rewriting into a new existence.
As the future unraveled around them, Franklin Richards made one final sacrifice. Using his own powers, he rescued Rachel from annihilation by sending her into a nearby semi-reality moments before the timeline completely disappeared.
Separated from Franklin forever, Rachel awakened alone in an unfamiliar realm, that place was Avalon.
Rachel soon learned that Avalon was not simply another dimension, but an isolated Arthurian semi-reality that had once existed connected to the primary timeline before becoming separated into its own independent existence.
Lost, emotionally shattered, and disconnected from her native reality, Rachel wandered through Avalon until she was discovered by a mystical order known as the Order of the Witnesses.
The Witnesses were red-robed mages native to Avalon who believed Rachel’s arrival fulfilled part of an ancient prophecy. Recognizing her immense psychic potential, they took her in and began teaching her magic in addition to her already extraordinary psionic abilities.
For the first time in her life, Rachel found something resembling peace, Yet Avalon was far from safe.
Rachel’s attempts to send telepathic messages across dimensions became distorted and fragmented. Something in the Otherworld was intercepting her communications, a parasitic dream entity the Witnesses called the Sugar-Man.
Unable to fully communicate with Commander Pryde or the outside world, Rachel continued sending fragmented warnings every night, hoping someone would eventually understand them.
One message persisted above all others:
FIND ME IN OTHERWORLD.
Now known as Prestige, Rachel Summers exists between realities, part survivor, part prophet, and part exile. She remains haunted by memories of the future that no longer exists: the Sentinels, Nimrod, the Hounds, and the people she could not save.
Unlike many mutants shaped by heroism or idealism, Rachel was forged through survival. Every relationship she forms carries the fear of loss because she has already witnessed entire worlds vanish, at the same time, Avalon has changed her profoundly.
Under the teachings of the Order of the Witnesses, Rachel evolved beyond being merely a telepath. She became a sorceress capable of blending psychic power with mystical knowledge, making her uniquely connected to the unstable energies of the Otherworld.
As strange psychic disturbances spread through Avalon and the dimensional barriers surrounding it weaken, Rachel continues trying to reach the outside world through telepathic projections. Some of these signals have reportedly reached mutant psychics connected to Excalibur and the Braddock family.
Rachel believes the collapse of her timeline was not the end of the threat that created it.
Somewhere beyond Avalon, forces connected to dreams, alternate realities, and parasitic dimensions continue moving in the shadows. And if Rachel is correct, the horrors that destroyed her future may still find a way to return. Until then, she remains trapped between worlds, waiting for someone to answer her message.
