Many years ago, the boy Dick Grayson, having recently debuted his identity as Robin, proposed to his father the creation of a super-team where other young heroes could act and learn together on the battlefield.
Thus, Batman took on the role of mentoring the team, contacting various heroes throughout the world, who identified with the team and sent their protégés to join it.
These were: Donna Troy (the mortal turned Amazon), Aqualad (the reclusive emissary of Atlantis), Speedy (the justice-seeking teenage adventurer), and Kid Flash (the comic book fan who recently became a superhero).
The teams operated by the Titans were always easy and captivating, and the main goal was for the kids to experience heroic life under the supervision of a responsible hero, without having access to all the dangers of the profession. In their first mission, they faced a mad scientist from Midville who had accidentally turned himself into a colossal, irrational giant. This is why Donna nicknamed him "titan" during the mission. Her teammates found the name interesting and adopted it, becoming the Teen Titans!
In a battle of the bands against "The Flips," a young band that secretly worked with criminals and used its shows to spread drugs, the Teen Titans needed a place to hold their festival. So, Batman offered them a Wayne Enterprises storage warehouse, which they nicknamed the "Titans Lair" and made the group's headquarters.
The group faced various villains and situations, such as when they stopped the dangerous car races planned by Ding Dong Daddy, or the designer Mad Mod who supplied super-villains with super-suits, or when they defeated the Beast of Xochatan cult and freed the young Lilith Clay, who joined the group for a short time under the codename Omen.
The Titans met their end when, throughout all these missions, they began to be pursued by the same mysterious figure. First, he introduced himself as a secret ally to Robin. Without his father's supervision nearby, the man would tell stories about his glory days in fighting crime and how he was the greatest fighter the world had ever seen. It was only a matter of time before the Teen Titans' mysterious pursuer became an inspiration for Robin, who began to meet with the man alone for more risky mentorship than Batman could offer.
His name was Slade Wilson, and little by little, he turned Dick Grayson into an incessant weapon, torturing him more and more in battle after battle in search of perfection, while Deathstroke made him believe that one day he could take his place. Dick became distant and a violent leader, and when he thought about sharing his experience with the vigilante with Batman, he was threatened by his secret mentor, who claimed to know the weak points of his friends and family, and that this made him the man Dick could never become.
The world's greatest detective eventually noticed the strange way Robin started to act, as did his fellow Titans. So, he followed him and thus discovered what was going on, which left him distraught. Batman and Deathstroke fought almost to the death, but there was a moral line that separated the two. Batman backed down when he ended up bursting his enemy's eye with his fists. Bruce took Dick from there, and for the first time, he saw his father cry.
A little while later, Batman decided to put an end to the Teen Titans, and Robin was understanding. It was no longer wise to allow them to act as heroes if it restricted them from being kids.
After Dick Grayson started operating alone in Bludhaven, he understood that, unlike his father, working solo might not be his strong suit.
Cooperation seemed more productive than competition, and leading a team on a battlefield had become his true goal.
So, he decided to reunite the Titans, now formed by young people capable of handling adult problems without losing the light that their youth brings.
It was difficult to find the first members; the heroes of this generation seemed much more interested in monetary gains, and they had all already joined Lordtech as part of Infinity Inc. But a special member seemed a good fit for this reformulation of the Titans. Bumblebee was the most followed hero on social media and had wanted to leave Infinity Inc. for a long time to focus on her crime-fighting career, but a breach of contract with Maxwell Lord was not an option. Karen Bee was the perfect first member because her fame helped the invitation reach more interested heroes.
Cyborg and Beast Boy, for example, were next. Cyborg had just started as a vigilante, and after gaining his powers in a terrible accident, he began to receive support from his father in his heroic career as an apology. The scientist Silas Stone didn't think twice before offering his research center island in Chicago for his son's new superhero team, which became known as the Titans Tower. Beast Boy, in turn, was younger but had been a superhero for years alongside the Doom Patrol, which made him disappointed that he never got to work with other young heroes before.
The first formation of the Titans, though small, was responsible for locating one of the country's largest criminal groups, the Church of Blood of Brother Blood, a deranged reverend who was manipulated by the transdimensional sorceress Jinx Juvvadi into believing he was the ideal avatar for a destruction Asura. Invading one of the group's lairs in Dakota City, they saved a young hostage who was about to be sacrificed. She introduced herself as Raven, the last of the vestal line of Azarath, the daughter of the Asura of Destruction, and the holder of the power for global destruction. She seemed like a good addition to the team.
With the team seemingly formed, Dick saw them ready to take a big step: to face their first alien invasion. A Psion ship had settled in the sky over Keystone City and was using Earth's sun to conduct inhumane tests on a suffering alien species. The New Titans easily rescued her, and the aliens retreated. Grateful, the alien kissed Nightwing, who was almost half her size, and used her extraterrestrial physiology to learn the English language through the touch of their lips. She introduced herself as Starfire, a lost princess from the kingdom of Tamaran, and explained that she needed refuge on Earth. In less than two weeks, the Teen Titans went from a D-level force team to an A-level one, and this was only with the entry of two members, which seems promising.
Now, the Teen Titans had finally reunited and were acting in tune as never before. They began to be recognized throughout the globe as one of the most promising superhero teams of all time, which attracted many fans, but also many enemies. After locating Bumblebee, an enemy from her past, the dictator of Qurac, Beatriz Zazzala, sent her HIVE Five to confront the team. Psimon, Mammoth, Shimmer, Neutron, and Doctor Light II, young heroes manipulated by the Queen Bee to serve as official protectors of Qurac, had no chance against the Titans.
When the scientist Gizmo began to torment the Titans to measure their abilities, he revealed himself to be part of The Connection, a group of super-scientists interconnected by the same object that gave rise to Cyborg, and who now wanted to reassimilate him, which his teammates would obviously not let happen.
Still in their worldwide debut, the Titans got involved in the Markovian civil war and ended up sympathizing with the story of the young metahuman princess Tara Markov. They helped her take refuge in the United States so she would no longer be hunted by her siblings in their war for the throne. Tara spent a short time with the Titans, where she developed a crush on Beast Boy, but decided to leave the team to live an even more hidden life.
With Gar's recent dreams connected to the Red, the Titans were guided to the Nepal forest, where they stopped the inhumane operation that Brain and his partner Monsieur Mallah were operating on the animals in the region, using them as guinea pigs for a global mind domination machine.
Currently, the Titans are welcoming a new member, Jericho, thanks to social media pressure for a renovation of the already consecrated team lineup. The boy is skilled and sensitive and may truly be the missing piece of the team. For the first time, the Titans feel more united than ever!
