Dick Grayson, once the youngest member of the acrobatic Flying Graysons, became Gotham’s first Robin after his parents’ murder led Bruce Wayne to adopt him. A skilled fighter and natural leader, he helped Batman bring down his family’s killer, co-founded the Teen Titans, and later created the Robin Class to protect and train Gotham’s orphans. The Joker’s brutal attack during The Massacre left lasting scars, prompting Dick to leave Gotham at 20 and reinvent himself as Nightwing. Leading the New Titans, he now forges his own path as a hero.
Tim Drake’s path to becoming Robin began eight years ago, when Bruce Wayne renovated the Wayne Charity Center with the help of Sister Leslie Thompkins. The center took in six orphaned children from across Gotham and educated them while Batman trained them in combat and discipline through the Robin Class.
Three years ago, tragedy struck during The Massacre. The Robin Class split up: Cassandra decided to stay and train to become Batgirl, Jason took up the Robin mantle, and Tim and Stephanie decided to leave and search for their biological relatives. He discovered that his father was alive, but his mother had died shortly after being found. Tim’s parents had given him up for adoption due to financial strain from his mother’s illness, and the lasting emotional scar left by it.
Tim had lost contact with the Robins entirely. Except for Stephanie, who continued to be his only confident while classmates in Gotham City High School. Living in a cramped suburban home with his father, he faced a quiet life until Batman contacted him about Jason Todd’s disappearance. Jason, obsessed with avenging himself on the Joker, vanished after months of investigation.
Tim officially became Robin—not to replace Jason, but to help Batman track down Jason’s and the Joker’s whereabouts. He succeeded in finding them, finally bringing justice to the fallen Robins. Batman was traumatized by Jason's fate, so he began to prefer acting alone in Gotham City, enrolling Tim in the Young Justice program organized by the Justice League.
Tim recognized he needed allies his own age, and formed close bonds with his teammates, like Conner and Cassian.
