Registration fee
1. OECD member countries (incl. Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore)
Faculty: 20,000 JPY
Non-faculty (students, etc): 10,000 JPY
2. Non-OECD member countries
Faculty: 10,000 JPY
Non-faculty (students, etc): 5,000 JPY
3. Day pass
Faculty: 4,000 JPY
Non-faculty (students, etc): 3,000 JPY
Welcome dinner (Feb 12): 5,000 JPY
*Day passes are available for one-time, single-day use only. For participation of more than one day, please refer to the full registration fees listed above.

Payment method & policy
On-site registration: pay with CASH at the registration desk of the conference.
We accept Japanese Yen (JPY) for the fees. Credit cards and bank transfer will not be accepted.
Registration and full payment of fees will be compulsory for officially attending any of the conference events. If you have any questions regarding registration fees and payment, please contact us.

Online attendance
The conference can be attended online, but, as a general rule, we do not accept online presentations. However, exceptions can be made only upon request by session organisers.
Field site visits (optional)
1) Feb 11 (10:00 Group 1 & 13:00 Group 2, 30 participants each): Fukuoka's urban development projects and current social frontiers
We will visit the CBD redevelopment projects in Tenjin and Hakata, as well as the social diversity initiatives in the inner-city areas of Sumiyoshi and Yoshizuka.
Free of charge (*Depending on the weather and other situations, we might use public transport to travel between sites. These costs will be covered by the participants.
2) Feb 15 (whole day): Osaka on the eve of its international expo - redevelopment dynamics and migrant enclave vitalities
Starting in the morning, we will go through the current forefront of CBD redevelopment around Midosuji Boulevard.
Next, we will visit some migrant communities in the inner-city areas of Nishinari and Ikuno (Korea town).
In the late afternoon we will head out to Osaka's waterfront to witness the former and current (re)development projects. The excursion will conclude by exploring the expo site in Yumeshima.
Travel options to Osaka:
1) Ferry (overnight):
Leaving from Shinmoji (Kitakyushu) on Feb 14 at 19:50 and arriving in Osaka Port the next morning (08:00). We will pick you up at the point of arrival.
The fare is roughly 6,000 - 10,000 JPY per person, depending on your preferred accommodation category. Tickets are purchased online in advance: https://www.cityline.co.jp/english/.
2) Bullet train (Shinkansen - 2.5 hours ride):
A one-way ticket from Hakata station to Shin-osaka station.
The fare costs around 15,000 JPY. Tickets can be purchased directly at Hakata JR Station. See the location: https://www.hakatastation.com/hakata-station-map-finding-your-way/.
3) Domestic flight (1 hour flight):
Flight tickets from Fukuoka Airport (domestic terminal) to Osaka (Kansai) International Airport are 6,000-16,000 JPY, depending on availability and reservation timing. Cheap flights are available at: https://www.flypeach.com/en. The JAL (https://www.jal.co.jp/jp/en/) and ANA (https://www.ana.co.jp/en/jp/domestic/) airlines sometimes offer promotions.
Accommodation in Osaka:
1) Hotel for the night of Feb 14, 2025, in Osaka ( for traveling to Osaka by bullet train or plane)
2) Hotel for the night of Feb 15, 2025 in Osaka (optional)
After picking up the participants arriving by ferry at Osaka South Port at 8:30am (Feb 15, 2025) by bus, we will gather at 9:00am at JR Shin-Imamiya Station (O19, Q19)/Dobutsuen-mae Metro Station (M22, K19). The tour is expected to end at Shin-Imamiya Station around 5:30pm.
Participants are asked to book their own accommodation. We have also reserved 10 rooms at the Chuo OASIS ( https://chuohotels.jp/oasis/en/index.html), which cost around 6,000 JPY per night (single room). If you would like to make use of this hotel, please contact us as we will make the reservation. The rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
