I like making art that isn't precious. I gravitate to postcards and 1-page zines because they're cheap to make, easy to share, and okay to mess up or lose.
I use printmaking, collage, and digital illustration. As an artist, I'm drawn to color, bold geometric shapes, and text. I like taking textures out of scale and context. I'm inspired by the work of artists like Andy Warhol, Sol Lewitt, and Rosalyn Drexler.
I recently completed my PhD in Linguistics at UC Berkeley and am currently a postdoc at Berkeley's College of Computing, Data Science, and Society. My dissertation explores the relationship between speech perception and social interaction experimentally and computationally. I have over 10 years experience mentoring and teaching undergraduates.
I created this portfolio as part of a job application. I didn't get the job, but I hope you enjoy looking at my work!Â
