Description: As a 2026 EAPOST scholar, I worked with Prof. Schramm to add simulation based inference to STATS 60 — an introductory statistics course at Stanford University. Compared to previous iterations of the class, we taught hypothesis testing and p-values earlier. The students used coins and the one-proportion applet to perform “what-if” simulations. Some of the examples were from EAPOST but I also used new examples including one based on a cheating scandal in the video game Minecraft. Based on feedback from the teaching assistants, the students in the class demonstrated a better understanding of hypothesis testing than previous cohorts.
