Welcome!

A Little About Me!

My name is Mariam Lara I am from Longmont Colorado. I graduated from Front Range Community College with my Associate of Arts in Sociology degree in the Summer of 2020, when I transferred to the University of Colorado Boulder. I am currently a senior, majoring in Sociology and minoring in Leadership Studies. I am also heavily invested in Public Achievement and INVST Community Studies, which are the programs that have kept me at CU Boulder.

Over the past few years, I’ve become incredibly passionate about leadership within social justice activism and education equity. Throughout my education, I’ve held internships that have expanded my understanding and practice of leadership. Among others, I’ve had the pleasure of working for the Longmont Children, Youth, & Families- Youth Center, where I worked on mental health awareness for the Latinx community, and Longmont's REWiND program, which incorporates restorative justice. In 2020, I also completed an internship with the Lafayette Empowerment Center, where I am currently serving as a paid Program Assistant and facilitating programs for local k-12 students like Art for Social Change and the Lafayette Peer Empowerment Project. Completed projects continue to be on display in the Lafayette community and continue to remind me of my contributions.
