WEEK 1
(February 15 - March 6)
My internship experience officially began this week. This week gave me the chance to get to know several of the instructors at Sixto A. Abao National High School in greater detail. I had known some of them before, but we had never really connected. I was literally astounded by the surroundings because of how natural they were, including the leaves, grass, and trees. My fellow interns and I have been treated incredibly well by the principal, I only had a limited time to get to know and recognize the faces of our cooperating instructors. I gained a lot of insight into what they expect from me, and I look forward to what lies ahead. ms, wendilyn unajan , my first cooperating teacher, was among the friendliest professors I've ever met. He is God-fearing and well-organized. He assigned me the topics to be covered this week and gave me the duty of creating my lesson plan.
Week 2
(February 19 - March 23)
My fellow interns were given the task by our cooperating teachers to assist creating a fiesta banner for the school's festival celebration.
Week 3
(February 26 - March 1)
Ms. unahan gave me the assignment this week to supervise his advisory's early-morning cleaning of their designated area. As Grade 11 is separated into 4 sections, I also completed 4 demos this week. To fully appreciate the experiences I had in these sections, it took some time. They are the people I initially encountered while preparing for this course. I was inspired to keep striving for excellence after this experience.
Week 4
(March 4-8)
This week, I had the opportunity to actively participate in classroom activities. I assisted Ms. unahan in giving summative tests. I also conducted small group discussions and helped facilitate classroom discussions. It was a great experience to interact with the students and contribute to their learning process. I feel more confident in my role as an intern and am eager to take on more responsibilities. Because the teachers have essential things to do, I was allocated to sit in at grade 10 Tulip (1:00–2:00 pm) and Rubia (2:00–3:00). I also had my teaching demo in Grade 11. Additionally, a message has been issued informing us that visitors would be arriving on Friday, so we are all required to clean the spaces we have been given, particularly the backyard.
Week 5
(March 11-15)
This week, I was given the task of completing school form 2. As a student, I'm familiar with filling out forms for my own purposes, but this time, I had the responsibility of assisting the school administration in processing these important document. I spent the week organizing the form, reading through the instructions, and gathering the necessary information. And I was also very thankful to Ms. unahan because he taught me how to. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but I'm determined to approach this task with attention to detail and accuracy. I was also given the tasked of managing the Grade 11 ebony, yakal, mahogany, and sycamore sections because Ms. unahan will give an activity.
Week 6
(March 18-22)
This week had been the last time I got to teach in the first shift. Ms. unahan guidance, support, and expertise have been invaluable throughout this experience, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow under his mentorship. From the moment I stepped into his classroom, he welcomed me with open arms and made me feel like a part of the team. His patience and willingness to answer my questions, no matter how small or repetitive, have helped me gain a deeper understanding of effective teaching practices. He have been an exceptional role model, demonstrating professionalism, dedication, and a genuine passion for education. This week also marked my second shift as a teacher intern, and I am excited to build upon the experiences and lessons learned from my first day. As I walked into the school building, I felt a growing sense of confidence and eagerness to continue making a positive impact on the students' educational journey. I started the week by assisting Mr. Gilbert in preparing materials for her class. We discussed the lesson plan for the day, and I had the opportunity to contribute my ideas and suggestions. It felt empowering to be involved in the planning process, knowing that my input would shape the students' learning experience.
Week 7
(March 25-27)
This week, Mr. Gilbert tasked me to create detailed lesson plan for my demo next week so I focused on creating detailed lesson plans for each day of the week. I carefully outlined the learning objectives, instructional strategies, and assessment methods for each lesson. I ensured that the activities were aligned with the curriculum and catered to the diverse needs of my students. It was a meticulous process that required attention to detail, but it was satisfying to see the lessons taking shape on paper.
Week 8
(April 2-5)
This week was dedicated to teaching my students about the digestive system, and it was an exciting and engaging learning experience for both me and the students. Throughout the week, I focused on creating interactive lessons, incorporating hands-on activities, using gifs, videos and PowerPoint presentation to help students understand the complex processes that occur within their bodies. To kick off the week, I introduced the topic of the digestive system to the students. We began by discussing the importance of digestion and how it relates to overall health. I used PowerPoint Presentation and present it in a TV to visually explain the different organs involved, their functions, and the overall process of digestion. We engaged in a class discussion, allowing students to ask questions and share their prior knowledge.
Week 9
(April 11-12)
This week is focused on educating students about biodiversity and fostering environmental stewardship. The objective was to engage students in active learning experiences that enhance their understanding of biodiversity, its importance, and the role they can play in its conservation.
Week 10
(April 17-19)
This week I had another topic which is all about ecosystem so the objective of my discussion was to introduce students to the concept of ecosystems, help them understand the interdependence of organisms within an ecosystem, and provide them with a hands-on experience to observe and learn about ecosystem dynamics.
Week 11
(April 22-26)
In my final week as a student intern, I expressed my gratitude to Mr. Gilbert, the teachers, and the entire staff for their guidance and support throughout my internship. I also had the opportunity to share my experiences with other students who are interested in pursuing internships in the future. It's bittersweet to leave the school and the connections I've made, but I'm leaving with valuable lessons, increased confidence, and a deeper passion for education. This internship has been an enriching and memorable experience that has solidified my decision to pursue a career in teaching.
