CORRECTION AND REFLECTION
SUMMATIVE 1
REFLECTION: I have learned a lot more about statistics because of these modules that were covered in the summative test (which has tested my understanding about the topics). I have known the difference between a discrete and continuous random variable and that the sum of all probabilities should always be equal to one or else you have gotten the wrong information about the problem. The mean of the outcomes and their corresponding formulas were also discussed here. Another interesting topic I have learned here is getting the z-score, z-value and the area of a normal distribution under the normal curve though it is quite time-consuming finding the values through the table, it was fun solving it. Nonetheless, I could not help or avoid but have mistakes in the test because I'm still in the process of learning these topics. For the first mistake, it was actually an easy one yet I was confused by the given problem somehow when answering the test. I have reflected on my actions here that I should be able to understand the problem more clearly and analyze what should need to be solved given by the information in the problem. For the second mistake, I have actually forgotten that it should only be the 75-82 interval that needs the percentage to be known; instead of doing so, I have included the value from 68 which it has become 68-82. The 68% that I have answered should be divided into two because it only seeks for the one interval (75-82). I have realized here that I should be able to always double check or recheck the given problem with its information by also analyzing it precisely.
Thus, with all of these mistakes that I have done, I have come to the point where I would always double check or recheck the given information in the problems and understand it more precisely. Since rushing to finish the test earliest as possible without rechecking my answers and the problem it is finding the solution to it will not make sense at all if I have gotten mistakes of doing so. Overall, these topics are very applicable not just in research but also in life, since I have seen in news that they always use these graphs for more understanding about some issues especially to the ones that we have today about the cases on the COVID-19. In our daily lives, statistics is very applicable especially the topics that I have learned here today would help us a lot in finding the probability of a certain issue or topic.
SUMMATIVE 2
REFLECTION: Honestly, this test was harder than the previous one because I really had to take my time slowly but surely here because there are problems that were confusing in the test. Anyhow, I have still gain an understanding more deeply about statistics since back then, it only tackles about the basic statistics which is about only finding the simple mean, median, and mode. There are indeed a lot of formulas in statistics because the modules that were covered here were about finding the t-distribution, z-distribution, and I have studied the different means, standard deviations, and variance since it was said that it belongs to the scope of the test. It was really hard memorizing the formulas of these yet it is really useful in certain problems in our life. The z-distribution and t-distribution often needs a statistical table or the tables that were corresponding to them to find the values that are related to them. It was quite time-consuming because you have to really look for the right and exact value without being confused of getting the another value that is beside them. Nevertheless, I still had mistakes in answering the test. In the first problem, I was actually not fond of the meanings which I had the hard time understanding what concept is the most applicable to it because I am only understanding them by the formulas I have gathered in my mind. I have realized that I should not be complacent enough on just understanding the formulas but I should also read their respective meanings to further understand their concepts precisely. For the second problem, when I have reviewed my mistake, I have just realized on how foolish I was because it is already stated in the problem yet I still went to the one which contains the wrong information about the topic. That's when I reflected that I should never do this again in the next tests that I will take since it was a waste of point when it already has stated the needed information, I will just only interpret it. I will promise to myself that I will read the problem and recheck it a multiple times before passing or submitting my answers in the test.
Considering with all that said, I have reflected that I will understand the meanings and not just the formulas of the concepts. I will also not let myself to pass or submit the test without rechecking my answers and rereading the problems in the test to avoid of having mistakes again. Furthermore, I have learned a lot more in these modules though there were really many formulas, it helped me a lot to get through the test and even the most recent lesson did help me a lot just by listening to the zoom consultation or meeting before the actual test. These concepts and lessons are very helpful for everyone even though we are not an expert or statistician, we could still be able to find the proportion and percentage from the data or information gathered that needs to be solved to help us expand our knowledge and recognize about such issues in our daily life.
