MARY AND PETER
When she first head of Him
She thought, "Just another man.
Proud, ambitious, vain and selfish,
Taking all he can."
But Mary came to listen
By the shores of Galilee.
The words of Jesus changed her:
Mary no more Mary.
He laughed outside, he cursed within
When the guru said, "Go out."
"I’m the fisher," Peter thought
"He doesn’t know what he’s talking about."
Prodded through his grumbling
He again put out to sea,
And netting his largest catch in life
Said humbly, "Sinful me."
Peter sings a new song;
Mary’s not the same.
Forever wed to Jesus
The three will share one name.
For my sister Mary, married to Peter
