As if time has stood still like everything else in lockdown. Amidst this stagnation, if anything is running ceaselessly, that probably would be our minds. Numberless thoughts gather there, so does play of countless ideas and conflicts. Some of them get precipitated in the tides of time. Some of them have been captured in words, colours and clicks of our students. It has been a long journey for Barnika. Generations and the panorama of changing thoughts are seized on the pages of our beloved magazine. They are bright like our students; sharp in wit and vast in the expanse of their reasoning. They come, stop at this shadowy inn for three years and leave. But what remains are their words, brightly hued by their youthful, inquisitive minds. There hasn’t been an aberration this time as well. Our intrepid dreams do get translated on the pages of Barnika. Can you recognize them?

লকডাউনে থমকে আছে সব। এই থেমে থাকা জগতের মাঝে সবচেয়ে বেশি ছুটে চলেছে যে, সে হলো আমাদের মন। কতরকম ভাবনা সেখানে। কতও রঙের খেলা। কতও কতও কথা এসে জড়ো হচ্ছে মনের কোণে। টুপ করে তলিয়েও যাচ্ছে কয়েকটা কখনও সখনও। তাই তাদের কিছু কিছুকে অক্ষরে, রঙে, লেন্সে বন্দি করে রাখছে আমাদের মেয়েরা। 'বর্ণিকা' - র চলার পথ দীর্ঘ। দক্ষিণ কলকাতার এই প্রাচীনতম কলেজের ঐতিহ্যের একটি অংশ হল কলেজের মেয়েদের এই পত্রিকা 'বর্ণিকা'। প্রজন্মের পর প্রজন্ম পার হতে হতে বদলে যাওয়া ভাবনার ধারা ধরা থাকছে এই 'বর্ণিকা' - র পাতায়। আমাদের ছাত্রীদের মতোই মননে উজ্জ্বল, যুক্তিতে তীক্ষ্ণ, বিষয়ের বিস্তারে ব্যাপ্ত ওদের এই পত্রিকা। ওরা আসে। তিন বছরের এই পান্থশালায় শিক্ষার ছায়ায় থেকে কাটিয়ে যায়। সেইসব সময়ের জলছবি ধরা থাকে 'বর্ণিকা' - তে। বরাবরের মতো এবারও তার ব্যতিক্রম হলো না। আমাদের সকলের অনেক আকাঙ্ক্ষা আর স্বপ্নের হাত পাকাবার আখড়ার নামই হলো 'বর্ণিকা'। পাতা উল্টে দেখুন তো ওদের চিনতে পারছেন কিনা?
