Greetings and a very warm welcome to South Calcutta Girls’ College!
South Calcutta Girls’ College is one of the oldest girls’ colleges in Kolkata imparting quality education to educate, enlighten and empower the women over the last 89 years. With gratification we put forward the second online synergised piece of creation,Baranika2021, our college magazine an assemblage of the creative contributions by our students and glimpses of our journey.
COVID 19 has taken away more than 4 million people around the globe and has affected many millions more. The period we must live through the pandemic may stretch years or decades. So, the entire education system has been revolutionised through virtual mode. The recent challenging teaching learning process is completely different from the conventional one. Globalization, knowledge economy and technological innovations have been an integral part of today’s education. We believe in the quote “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all” by Aristotle. So, the college strives to empower each student through a holistic individual upliftment. The seeds of knowledge sown in the minds of our students are expected to spread their roots across the boundaries of attaining their individual ambition and finding the ways to reach out to the society. Besides the curriculum-based education, the students are encouraged to participate in all the activities of the college ranging from college magazine to empathy building. The college provides online platform for showcasing the hidden talents of our students and for expressing their innovative thoughts.
I take this opportunity to congratulate the editorial board for bringing out this magazine, an achievement considering their effort and time devoted. I would like to acknowledge all the honorable members of the Governing Body of the college for their unconditional support and encouragement through our humble journey.
I extend my best wishes for the success of this enthusiastic endeavor.
