Leafko

Leafko is a role-playing video game developed on the RPG Maker engine. Told episodically, the gameplay focuses on exploring various locations and dungeons. Combat is a simplified turn-based system with classic mechanics of the genre, such as the use of magic points or special abilities. The plot follows the journey of Leafko, a little plant-girl who searches for ancient relics to prevent the rebirth of a dark entity. In each episode, the protagonist is accompanied by a different character with unique skills.

Unlike other RPGs, in Leafko the player doesn't control a large group of members, but just the protagonist or a partner who helps her most of the time. These characters only appear in their respective episodes, being able to have different strategies depending on their special abilities.

Another feature is the use of elemental magics. Members who can wield magic can only use a specific spell depending on the item that is equipped. For example, a fire spell will only appear in the menu if the character has a fire seal equipped. If it is removed, the spell will disappear from the magic menu until it is re-equipped. Some abilities have effects that changes the overworld.

Leafko takes place in the world of Forestia, a huge forest where plants have become aware and have built kingdoms. These beings, called 'Herbaes', live in harmony with nature, worshiping the forest as gratitude.

Some centuries ago, the Herbae discovered a way to obtain more resources through new inventions. Although they had brought progress, they became ambitious. From their malice, a dark entity called Miasma emerged and began to consume everything, polluting the forest. The Monarch of Forestia, along with other braves, decided to confront Miasma and managed to seal it with their weapons. After he was defeated, the forest blossomed again and the heroes' weapons became relics. A new era of peace had begun, but the fear of a new malice emerging still remained.

In the present, Leafko, a very insecure girl, has been chosen as the priestess of the Citadel. Guided by the Monarch and her guardian Fertile, she must prepare for the Blossoming Ceremony, a ritual in which new plants will sprout; but she is overwhelmed by the weight that comes with it. Frustrated with not being able to fulfill her tasks and the pressure that her tutor puts on her, Leafko has nightmares about a dark entity that she cannot understand.

Skullbunny

Skullbunny is a 2D prototype developed in Unity.

Programming was made by Arturo Meza (enemies AI and physics) and Georgina Romellón (who also designed a level), art direction and concept (animation, pixel art, character design) by me.

An unlucky rabbit is killed near a farm. When he reaches the afterlife, he realizes that only his head has died, so he has a chance to revive. However, the afterlife turns out to be a hell where his greatest fear torments him: being eaten by vegetables.

Playable build is available on Arturo Meza's itch.io. This project has no intention to become a full game.

MechaTactics

MechaTactics is a tactical board game for two players. The main focus of the game is to leader an army of robots through a terrain previously designed by the players. Each unit has a range limit, attack power, and health points based on its class.

The board game was developed for a Game Design class in college. It was designed along Arturo Meza and Emilio García, I was responsible for the characters and graphic design. There is only one copy of this game in possession of Arturo Meza.

There are 8 different type of classes: Gunner, Airplane, Bomber, Swordmaster, Engineer, Lancer, Tank and Turret.

SpongeBob The Movie: Re-Hydrated

The SpongeBob SquarePants The Movie: Re-Hydrated is a fan-project that recreates the first SpongeBob's movie. More than 300 artists (including musicians, animators and dub actors) were involved in the project. It was produced by Poisoned Donuts Film and Pasta Dash Creations. The re-animated film was made as a tribute in honor of Stephen Hillenburg, who passed away in 2018.

I animated a scene of Dennis on a retrowave pixel-art style. My contribution can be seen at minute 47:56.
