Bayview CERT was formed in 2025 to establish a CERT at Del Webb Bayview, in Parrish, FL. The first group of 5 members was trained in May. Six additional members completed their training in June 2025, and 2 members moved in already certified. By Sept 4th, 24 out of 72 interested residents are certified! New training programs are currently being offered to community residents.
BayView CERT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible.
Our Bayview Community Emergency Response Team is an extension of local first responder services who can directly help our neighbors in the event of a disaster.
Should a disaster occur, first responders may not be able to reach our area when their help is needed, due to a variety of reasons. Our Bayview CERT team can provide this help immediately, even if routine communication systems are unavailable.
Having been trained in basic emergency response, fire safety, first aid and light search and rescue, the Bayview CERT team can assist our neighbors and provide immediate life-saving and life-sustaining needs in our community until professional responders arrive. Bayview CERT is divided into 4 Sectors with 4 teams of at least 6 members on each team (a 3 person team is the minimum for safety, per FEMA regulations). Our current total membership will allow for coverage of absent member when teams are deployed. Underneath the portico of the Driftwood Amenity Center has been designated as the staging area once teams are activated, and where the North River Fire Service team will accept hand-off of CERT reports.
As one of over 20 CERT teams located in Manatee County, Bayview CERT is under the auspices of FEMA (subject to change) and subsequently the Department of Homeland Security, as well as the Manatee County Emergency Management Services Department and is committed to provide service to the community in the event of a disaster or other emergency. All volunteers, regardless of age or background, are always welcome. By doing the “greatest good for the greatest amount of people”, we can keep our community safe and strong.
