Project Overview:
Design a small but useful tool that helps the user orient themselves in time or space. Make a new kind of clock, calendar, or compass.
Compass
Always points to home
Always points to nearest bathroom
Points you in the direction AWAY from the nearest cyber truck
Make a possible alert when one comes more than 500 feet from you
Clock
Always tells you what day yesterday was
Count down to LeBron’s (hopeful) retirement
Make it show if they make it into the finals or not
This is for him retiring this year… hopefully
How many days until Jokic can ride his horses again
Bill Self retirement count down :(
Calendar
Just images of Bill Self throughout the day showing the time
Use AI to generate the images
Tamagotchi Bill Self
Shows how long you have had it and he can tell you the day and or time
User Testing
After testing the product with the first two users, I couldn’t find any glitches with the prototype. After watching the first two, I found that the beginning part of waiting for his health to go down was a little long and not super apparent that it was going down until it got to bill being mad. The users very much liked that there was a key that made it easy to understand what buttons do what. One user went through the prototype without even using the key. They did everything perfectly and then when they were done, asked “am I done? Can I go now?” Which wasn’t very helpful for my first test. After testing three more people, I found that the interface over all is really straight forward. The only thing I changed was the speed of bills hunger depleting.
Script:
Hi can you do me a favor?
I’m doing a project for class can I get 3 minutes of your time?
I need you to test out this app I made for class.
It isn’t a test for you it is for the product, so there are no wrong answers.
The only thing I am going to say about it is, if you could think out loud while you try and make the tamagotchi bill Self happy.
User #1 (20 years old)
User went straight into it without looking at the key
Immediately clicked onto meal
Finished with no problems
Not a single miss click
Only note was the beginning felt like it dragged on for a little to long
User #2 (20 years old)
Started tapping all over the screen and then realized there is a key.
Opened the key and was still confused.
Sat for a second and then understood it.
Once he understood the objective, went right away and fed bill a snack.
Bill then got not happy right away
The user wanted to try again and feed him a meal so he did
User #3 (22 years old)
User looks in key first
Understands key and then goes back to home
Opens up date and time first because they wanted to see what else there was instead of finishing the task
Once done looking at date and time, user went straight into feeding bill.
User #4 (26 years old)
User immediately forgets the objective the second I had them the phone
I say nothing and wait for bill to get hungry
The user then understands what needs to be done.
User goes straight into the feed option and feeds bill a meal to complete the objective
