To play the ARPG, you need to create your own Side Character Toon (Main Characters are not available at the start of the game)! Or, you can bring an existing one in, there are no rules against that!
This page serves as a guide on how to build your Toon. If you have any questions, you can ask in the TH World or in the Discord Server!
Your Toon can spend a total of 15 points in 5 different stats. Main Characters are given an extra point to spend. You are required to have at least one point in each stat.
These stats will give advantages in different facets of a floor exploration depending on what it is. Here are the stats used in the ARPG:
HP - How many attacks you can tank before dying and failing the floor.
Movement Speed - How fast you can move around the floor
Stamina - How long you can run away without losing your speed
Stealth - How easily you can escape from a Twisted or any unexpected obstacle
Extraction Speed - How quickly you can extract all the ichor from a machine
Additionally, your Toon will have an extra stat for ARPG purposes:
Popularity - This is essentially your EXP in the group. The higher it is, the more quests, trinkets and floors you can access.
Finally, your Toon can have a marker depending on their backstory:
❤️ are for Toons that have never become a Twisted
🖤 are for Toons that are currently Twisted
❤️🩹 are for Toons that have recovered from previously being a Twisted
If you don't know what a Twisted is, it is essentially a Toon that has been overcome with Ichor, becoming something much darker than they were previously. Usually, they either have very opposite personalities / behavior from the original counterpart or have their deepest personality and thoughts brought out.
Your Toon is allowed one ability, whether active or passive, which allows you to complete the research on one floor more easily. These abilities can:
Enhance one of your stats temporarily
Allow you to avoid one type of encounter entirely
Prevent you from taking a specific type of debuff
Prevent you from taking damage (can only be activated once)
Once you have a popularity of 50, you gain access to the Trinket you have come up with. This Trinket can:
Enhance one of your stats permanently as long as it is held
Allow you to avoid one type of encounter entirely
Prevent you from taking a specific type of debuff
Prevent you from taking damage (can only be activated once)
With a popularity of 100, a Side Character Toon can become a Main Character Toon. When this happens, the Toon will receive the following perks:
An extra Ability
An extra point to spend on their stats
